Heritage was sweating lightly, his hide shimmering lightly in the sunlight. Silvano had a hand on the yearling's reins, leading him along the abandoned road to make the travel easier. The road had long been abandoned and it was broken fairly often along the way from decades of abandonment. Some parts had been ripped apart and one section would rise above the other as plants grew in the great gaps. Now and then, Silvano had to lead the colt around the road just to get back on it, but it made it easier and faster than directly through the woods or on the beach.
The cart they had found was piled with the select books of the Manor's library as well as their own personal collections. Giselle's things were beside his own, and the cart was clearly heavy. Heritage was still fairly young and his back could not take the strain quite as well as a full grown draft horse would have. They took frequent breaks and honestly, they all needed it. The toil of Silvano's mother leaving them was too hard to bear. Anu had to have felt just as terrible as the rest of them; Crimson Dreams was her home for far longer than it had been Silvano's home. But he had been born here, this had been his home his entire life. There had never been anywhere else for him, because he was born here and his family had been here. Now his family was gone and he had no where left to go where family would be.
At the borders of the Court, Silvano stopped his horse. The man stroked the horse's sweating neck and took the cart off the harness. Gently, he set it on the ground, careful to keep the things from falling out and onto the ground. Silvano kept stroking the yearling's neck, trying to dry him off. The colt eyed Silvano calmly, breathing steadily. The colt did care for the canine, despite their strange circumstances. Raising his head, Silvano called out to someone to come accept them.
