The dark-furred hybrid watched with an idle sort of amusement as the pair of coyotes scrambled to get away. The boy, at least, seemed resigned to fate -- the female still seemed utterly flabbergasted, as if she did not comprehend the situation at hand. Eris's slitted chartreuse eyes followed their progress, noting the limp of the male as casually as she might a lagging elk in a herd her pack stalked. This prey was far more fun than elk or deer, the stupid prey animals which provided little sport and less amusement. Human technology has taken all the fun out of the hunt, she lamented to herself, entirely forgetting for the moment that she was no proficient hunter herself.
Alessandra was the first to depart, and the big horse she rode seemed as eager as the black and white furred woman. Eris did not have to hold Horse where she stood; the mare only moved when commanded, and was otherwise utterly unperturbed. It was as if all but complete casual confidence had been removed from the chestnut animal, which was good for Eris -- she required a confident horse, though not one with such arrogance as to think it knew better than its rider. When Alessandra's horse had taken several lengths, Eris coaxed her own mount into speed, and the big mare trotted easily over the marshy ground of the bay.
When Alessandra turned, the dark woman gave her the signal, ushering her forth with a casual wave of her hand. She kept Horse to a pace behind the larger equine, leaning forward to see the carnage.
