She led Conri through the hard rain, holding his hand and smiling through their touch, their closeness. They moved from beneath the dark clouds, into the trees, hardly able to tell that day had long ago shifted into night. The two marched through the fog of Esper Hollow, Asanotohl breathing in scents that she had already familiarized herself with. It was not far to the campsite from there; and when they arrived, it seemed late enough that most of them, well anyone who was there, had already gone to bed.

Asa took Conri to her tent, which had been flimsy the first night, but she’d settled it quite nicely herself. A day in Halifax had brought her back many supplies to her humble abode; tarps to add on and expand with her tent, actually turning it into some sort of a make-shift home; more books piled into the corners; a mattress dragged by a wooden wagon that had been turned to firewood and piled in an opposite corner of her bed piled with fresh sheets she’d cleaned and dried near the lake. Also, as they stepped inside, their feet were met with a plush rug she had confiscated from some run-down building. It was overall comfortable for someone as young and resourceful as herself.

She wrung out her hair unto the floor, and gave her small, slender body a good shake before jotting over to her bed to sit down. She pulled her knees up beneath her chin, and smiled up at Conri, her eyes kind and her mauled ear twitching slightly. She patted the space beside her, beckoning the red-furred male to join her, before she laced her arm back around her legs, grasping unto her opposite elbow.
