A couple of miles can seem like a lot of space when you’re a puppy and for the last few weeks the small chunk of land around the house that her family had moved into had been Keldava's own private kingdom, to her at least. She had explored what seemed to be ever nook and cranny of Thornbury and the surrounding countryside.
So today she was heading farther afield, setting out bright and early by her standards - that is to say a few hours after most others had begun their activity - and she had happily made her way off into the pack's territory, alternating between bounding about wildly and sniffing around particularly interesting areas.
Her carefree exploring was interrupted somewhat when she found a river. One minute Keldava was standing over the edge of a steep bank, peering down curiously, and the next she had been dumped down into the cold water along with a large amount of loose dirt.
Keldava spluttered and flailed in the water for a minute or so before she managed to right herself into a rough doggy paddle position. Even so the current of the river was too strong for her to do much more than shift her position as she was dragged along and keep herself afloat. After a couple minutes of splashing about Keldava managed to manoeuvre herself over to a small patch of sandy land in the middle of the river.
Keldava whined as she looked around her refuge; the river was a good 4 feet to either side and lined with fairly steep banks. Despite her distress though the pup showed no signs of panic yet; in her mind she saw this as just another part of her adventure and surely she would figure some way to free herself.
