Itachi was well acquainted with the darkness that now attached itself to the maturing evening. Once he had lived a life as a fully nocturnal creature, and later he had found a home underneath earth and rock in the permanent black of Anathema’s caves, lit only by crafted torches. But seasons had passed and changed much and more, and now, the one creature in the world that he depended on belonged to the light. He wouldn’t call the necessary changes he’d made a sacrifice.

Now, her orbs searched his, though the difference in their two forms surely required her to strain her neck somewhat. Blonde ears stirred slightly as the woman’s voice interrupted the lovely peace that he had known for the majority of the afternoon. She didn’t present herself with the proper formality that he had come to expect at Salsola’s borders. Nothing about him changed as her face turned back to him after turning about during her speech. She snickered, and he wondered if her behaviour should simply be judged as disrespectful.

He saw no reason to bother forging a response to her words. He watched her take the liberty to sit down, and soon more words flowed out between her dark lips, and her intentions for being here was then clear. She didn’t do well at presenting her case at the moment, and Salsola was a hard bunch to please in every way. Itachi should know, dishonoured as he remained.

She dared to look him in the eye. The blond hybrid did not know her reasons for favouring the lupus appearance, but he’d expected more tact from her than what he had currently received. ”And what defines a strong pack?” the man questioned, stone face somehow becoming colder even without visible change. ”This pack accepts exceptional individuals only, no homeless strays on the lookout for stronger packs.”

Pale whiskers brushed back along his narrow muzzle, and his lips withdrew to offer the nameless female a glimpse of sharp, ivory canines.
