His strong, muscular and flexible body leapt over the debris of the once great city. Sinew and flesh worked together in harmonious perfection to create the greatest killing machine on four legs. Fiery orbs were narrowed in to slits as he chased the hoofed animal which leapt over fallen lamp posts with an innocent and beautiful grace, which was about to be severed along with its life.
Rancor barely made a sound throughout the chase. The only thing he could hear was the blood pumping in his ears, the frenzied beating of his heart and the short, misty breaths he took each time a large paw hit the ground.
He was a well oiled machine, ready for the attack.
Gradually, the beasts overwhelming speed overtook that of his prey. With one powerful surge in his back legs and the use of the large muscles in his stomach, he leapt, landing upon the hoofed animal with a loud thud. It struggled and let out whimpering whines as it kicked uselessly against the bulk of the luperci. With the skill of an aged hunter, the grey-haired wolf opened his massive jaws wide, revealing glistening deathly sharp teeth. A split second of silence before the dull cracking of bone was heard crimson liquid flowed forth from the creatures neck, spilling on to the ground like a growing crimson flower. It froze, brown eyes wide and staring before glazing over. It stopped struggling and braying and became still.
A wicked grin spread across Rancor’s face.. eyes blazing with the adrenaline from the hunt. He was accomplished as a hunter and was proud to be so.
Never a coward. Never.
