bracing for impact

Maggie had been lazier than normal lately. Her desire to participate in the recent raids and altercations going on in the kingdom had waned considerably once she had learned she was with child. It was a shock Magnolia hadn’t expected to get this so early in her life; she was barely an adult herself. She was only going to celebrate her second birthday in a few short months. However, she embraced the gift that had been bestowed upon her; the beauty of new life, a faithful mate by her side, and a large family. The Confidant would often daydream about her own future children, little creatures that came from her own blood running around in the world. Salsola may not be the most ideal place Maggie had imagined to reproduce in, but the pups born here had turned out alright. Perhaps the whole Family would have a part in raising her babies, and they, too, would be little princes and princess of the Thistle Kingdom.

Maggie’s laziness kept her from fully acknowledging her mate’s voice; she had turned over for just a few more minutes of sleep when he spoke. Getting up and starting their day was not something the silver Confidant was rushing to go do. She groaned as he reminded her of the task that lay ahead…. Why did she have to go? She wasn’t very useful as she couldn’t strain her body or do much in case it were to hurt the children. But she knew Denver wanted the company, and they were a team now, so she would have to change her attitude towards him soon. It would just take some getting used to.

Her mate dressed and with that, she finally got out of the bed, grabbing the pile of necklaces on her dresser and looping them over her neck. Her dagger was placed around her neck last, and she adjusted it so it was just right in place between her breasts. She turned her attention back to Denver after she was finished. “I’ll go get Jasper tacked up,” she said with a smirk on her face. The journey there would sure be interesting. With a flick of her black-tipped tail she stretched her arms up to the heavens, trying her best to shake off the sleep that fogged her brain.
