The sound of panicked wingbeats temporarily distracted Kohaku as his head turned to look at the birds flying away. A sense of pride welled up in the puppy's chest and his tail wagged at the site. Scaring birds was fun, but they often ignored him when he tried to chase them in the forest. His mommy used to scare them for him, which was entertaining but not the same. Scaring them himself was more fun. If only his mommy was there to see him successfully scare the birds. Shinning eyes watched as the birds retreated from the scene.
Movement in the corner of his eye caught Kohaku's attention, and just in time. A pair of legs swung his way and Kohaku yelped as he scrambled to get out of the way. Being crushed by a round wolf was not his idea of a good time. Thankfully, the round wolf missed the young male by just a hair. Once the puppy was safe at a distance away and behind a big rock, he watched enthusiastically as the bigger wolf tripped over himself and landed headfirst into the creak. The tiny male's tail wagged and he laughed at the site. The other male was so funny! For once, Kohaku wasn't the one landing face first and butt in the air. Lucia had always laughed at him for that, and now he knew why. It was funny when it happened to someone else.
An intense glare from the other made the young puppy swallow his laugh. His ears became pinned to his skull and his wagging tail sought refuge beneath his legs. Kohaku lowered himself to the ground and whined. Was he in trouble? The colorful puppy was sure that he hadn't done anything wrong. He had just said what was on his mind. Was that bad? Suddenly wishing Amy was around, Kohaku slipped behind his rock and hoped that the round wolf would stop glaring at him.
