Hearing Mido’s bad news of not being able to use his bow, Axelle’s ear tuned in to what he was saying. She continued munching on the meat on her arrow, while also devising a plan. She had already read his mind before he asked her, and when he finally did – she had an idea. ”Well, alright.” She tugged the last piece of meat off of the arrow and put the arrow away, letting Mido keep his. He seemed to be in short supply of arrows, while she wasn’t. He would need them anyway.
”Come on.” She got up, and motioned him to follow her again. She led him into the forest, leaving the fire pit and taking the rabbit carcass with her. She circled around where she last killed the rabbit, and dug a small hole with her hands near a tree. When the hole was big enough, she placed the rabbit’s carcass in there and threw the dirt on top of it until it was buried well. Then she led Mido away to a spot where she could hear little bunny feet running around. She picked a large enough tree for them both to climb, and scrambled up the side. ”Use the knobs to place your hands and feet.” The way she did it was easy enough, although it wasn’t every day that wolves climbed trees.
When she was successfully up there, she scooted over to the far side of the branches, making room for him. The trees trunk was thick enough to accommodate for both of them, so that they would be able to crouch easily without worrying about falling out or breaking anything. Axelle sometimes wondered if this tree was put there for this exact purpose. ”Be quiet, and come up here. Get yourself adjusted, and we’ll start the lesson,” she whispered to him and ushered him up to the tree.
