She tumbled, head over heel. The rabbit was still in her mouth, her jaw clenched and unwilling to give up. What she couldn’t help was the direction that she fell. Just missing the black wolf Anu rolled passed him and right into one of her beloved trees.

Her legs took most of the blow, making her bounce off the large trunk and roots. Once she stopped moving, Anu let the dead hare go and lay on the ground, waiting for it to hop off. It lay still, unmoving, not even its chest to notion breath.

Slowly she strained to her paws, “I got it.” Her voice was ragged and breathless.
