Andara didn't think her name was pretty. It was just a name, after all. Her mother could have called her anything, but the beauty of the name she chose was lost on its owner. Bright lilacs flickered away from Lilin's face, unable to believe the words. After all, she wasn't a pretty girl; she was hardly a girl at all, with her matted fur and dirt-caked paws, her shaggy hair and her huffy disposition.
Lilin didn't seem to notice or care, though, and Andy was grateful for that. The Vinattan leader stood, and the girl followed suit as they began the trek southward to Lilin's packlands. She pulled at the fabric of her thick cloak, adjusting it for warmth and comfort while the ebon-and-auburn lady explained the symbol between her eyes. A birthmark, she pondered, wondering if she had any herself. If she did, they were hidden beneath the mud and grime, invisible under her russet fur.
The language that Lilin spoke of was foreign to Andara, and she didn't get the joke about Loki either. Is the birthmark supposed to be funny? "Who's Loki?" she questioned as her legs worked to keep pace with the taller woman. The answer to her next question should have been obvious already by the familiar scrunch to Andy's features. She shook her head in reply, but her small ears stayed erect, curious about these gods she spoke of. The only god Andara had ever known of was Poseidon; the ship's captain had taught her about him and his watery rule. But these gods were different, and she wondered just how.
