Even when she was a child, Salvia had been driven by an instinctive drive to dominate. She was, by birth, made to rule. She was, by design, capable of such a thing. Brutal and fiercely in tune with the laws and behaviors of this place, Salsola was in many ways a true extension of the world she knew. It was her only world, and one that would learn to fear her. Eris already did. Now the others would do well to follow in stride.

Sirius had not been as surprised as she had expected, and after a long night of talk, it became apparent that things would not be as they had been before. They were too alike, silver-tongued beasts who were at their hearts savage creatures. His domination of her was well established. This alone allowed her to settle comfortably into the role below him, knowing that no one—not her elders, not even her mother—could demand of her now. She was not even two years old and now, by the strength of will and body, she had come to the height of power. Salsola had been muddled by her mother’s lax idea of love, of somehow considering these people her children. Salvia believed no such thing.

She stood in the Ruins, her hair pulled away from her face. A leather belt, tooled by the witch, hung at her hips. A singular sheepskin pouch rested on one side, flanked by the tiger’s head dagger her uncle had gifted her. At her throat an arrowhead flashed, high above the deep scar on her breast. The dead man had nearly taken her life, but she no longer feared death. She feared nothing, now.

Aware that Sirius was close, still inside of his home, she lifted her head and let out a demanding wolf’s cry for the whole of Salsola.
