The Confidant had been thrown out of the loop by his mate's pregnancy, unaware of any changes in his pack. But his children were born now, and he still had duties to Salsola, to Sirius. Denver had never been tremendously close to any of his leaders-- or pack-mates for that matter, save Maggie--, but nonetheless he'd felt as if Sirius and Eris worker well together. Larkspur's death had been a shock to the pale wolfdog, a tragedy to them all, and a great loss. He did not ever mourn as Eris did, though, and his heart was not cut nearly as deep.

Still, it was strange to him that it was not Eris or Sirius who called, but Salvia. His eyes narrowed at that, curious. Wonder what's goin' on, he thought aloud, exchanging a look with Magnolia before helping her gather the children. He carried Houston, boy with floppy ears and silvery-brown fur that curled and kinked even more than his own. The boy's eyes were bright blue like his though, and the white blaze on his chest and tail told more of his heritage. Magnolia carried the girls; the pale Florence with her dark ears, and the mohawked Memphis, just like her mother.

Denver's mind was preoccupied enough keeping the boy still as they walked that he had little time to ponder the meaning of this meeting. When the family arrived, though, it was clear that something was very different. Salvia stood alone-- where was Sirius? Where was Eris? She alone had called, but he had thought surely that the others would be there with her. What gave Eris' daughter the right to assemble them all like this? Something has changed, he knew, and he felt his stomach sink as he huddled close to Maggie, clutching his boy tight.
