The heat was enough to drive anyone mad, yet Kiara couldn't help but feel excited. It was a day she had anticipated ever since Tharin had suggested the idea. Kiara moved expertly through the mountains, her lithe body moving easily despite her many scars. The arctic female's white form glistened in the sun like freshly fallen snow, making her look as out of place as she felt. The summer was her least favorite time of the year, and Kiara hated every hot minute of it. Nova Scotia was scores hotter than the tundra, and Kiara's body was not built to withstand the heat.
No matter how hard the sun tried to dampen the snow wolf's spirits, she still felt fresh waves of joy with each step. The sun had started to set and soon it would be the prefect time for hunting in Avalon. Kiara made her way through the mountains and was rewarded for her efforts by the glorious site of the valley. A great herd of elk had settled into the valley and was quenching their thirst by the river. Raising her muzzle high, Kiara sniffed the air and took in the scent of all potential prey. The earthy smell of shrews and voles filled her nostrils, along with that of rabbits and even mountain goats. Kiara looked around with a hunter's eye, but did not see the goats themselves. The scent wasn't old, but the herd might have moved on before she arrived. Or, they were hiding.
Kiara was eager to start hunting, but she paused and shifted her weight impatiently as she waited for direction from Tharin. He was a higher rank then her and had organized the hunt. It was his to lead and the white wolf was more than happy to follow. Besides, she was practically useless as a silent hunter during the winter. Her white coat stood out against the world and made spotting her easier than spotting a cloud in the sky.
