There were many books inside the building where they were somewhat protected from nature's elements, but without anyone around to maintain the building and environment contained within, many of the books were partially or fully decayed. Especially where there were leaks in the roof or broken windows that let the rain and snow get blown in.

Temo had found a number of books that were still readable although he had to be careful as the pages were starting to deteriorate and would easily tear out of their bindings. He had looked through several when he found one that was full of information. It was this book that he started thumbing through looking to see if there would be anything worthwhile on the subject of bees and the care of the black and yellow insects.

It was that book that Temo had his nose in and reading when his son, Honrin made his way into the building and to where Temo was. He looked up in time to see the knife being tossed into the growing gloom around them and figured whatever it was that had Honrin's tail in a knot was dealt with. The sight of his son eating and the smell of blood that entered his nostrils reminded him that he was hungry. He put the book down and joined his son in the feast and tore into the rats.
