Writing example 1:

“Keep moving, don’t stop moving Ivy.” The sounds of paws echoed through the forest, two shadows darted between trees. There was no moon that night; the clouds covered any stars that dared to shine. The smaller of the two cut off to the left and sprinted into a lope. Icy blue eyes pivoted back to find her companion had disappeared into the shadows. Ivy Havoc’s ears fell to half-mast. Where did John go?
With a quick pivot, the female slowed down to a trot. The wind brushed against her face like a soft caress. Ivy could not smell her brother; he must have been downwind from her. She began to move again, this time slower than before. Her brothers always did complain when she would beat the boys in the racing tournaments. She couldn’t help but snort at the thought- it wasn’t her fault she was faster than the boys. She had hoped that would be an advantage for her escape. A chorus of howls breeched the silence. The sound of a timbered baritone rocketed up her spine. Her eldest brother Casey had found them out, and he had brought the pack. She was downwind from them for now but that wouldn’t stay that way for long. John appeared at her side, his golden eyes widened in horror.
A shadow pounced in front of them, a snarl reverberating in his throat.
“Run Ivy! Run and don’t look back!”
“Brother no I do-”
He snapped at her, with a whine she turned and sprinted towards the north, towards no-man’s land. The clash of snarls and teeth burning into her mind for all eternity.

She startled awake, china blue eyes closed sadly. With a sigh she stood from her resting spot of the hollowed tree. she had been on the run for a while, moving from place to place. There we few packs to be seen for a while. The wind was cool against her fur as she moved through the forest. She was lonely, so lonely since....then. Ivy sped up into a lope- she was going to run from those memories.

Example two:

The forest was abuzz with life, the birds were chirping. The sun was warm. Ivy had always loved the summertime, it was the heat. She had been out in the cold for far too long by herself.
snap.
She paused, head tilted to the side. The sounds of twigs snapping began to fade towards the west. Slinking forwards the peppered colored female through the bushes. The scent of elk flooded her senses. It made her mouth water. It had been a while since she had something that filled her stomach completely. There was a ridgeline that followed the trail and so she followed it. The elk was seventy yards in front of her, it was a young female that had seemed to stray from the herd. Licking her jowls, the wolf crept forward. The elk’s head jerked up, eyes and ears alert. Ivy froze, cringing at the wind. She was not going to let this meal go. With a growl, she jerked forwards into a sprint and leapt onto the prey’s back. The elk screeched and bucked her off before darted away. Ivy was quick behind it, smirking as the scent of blood flooded the air. She had wounded it, she was going to have dinner tonight.

Writing Example Three:

The elk was stronger than she thought it would be. It had moved faster than she thought it had also. With a sigh, she followed the splatters of blood that was painted on the ground. It had headed east, towards the fields. She sped up even more. The elk was about two hundred yards from her now, limping and keening or the herd. However, the herd was never going to come to its aid. That much she was certain of. She caught up to it finally and tackled it to the ground. Crimson iron flooded her throat; greedily she drank down the blood and released her hold on the poor animal’s jugular. Ivy took her time devouring the sinew and muscle on the lean animal. She felt slightly bad at the elk’s poor luck. Once her belly felt as if it was going to burst that Ivy took in her surroundings. The field was covered in tall grass, it was beautiful. She moved into the middle of the field and stretched out. She could stay here for a while right? The sun basked itself over her. The clouds drifted lazily overhead in joyful wispiness. Closing her eyes the small wolf settled in for a quick nap.
