Risks of letting go

There was no question in Oak’s mind, Cassia would understand. That was something that he had come to learn about the other loner, they could trust one another to simply understand. He was not fearful that she would think him selfish or weak for having such troubles, and was not fearful of her green gaze watching him.

As she replied he listened with the same interest he always held when she moved to speak. She had been thinking the very same thing; a monstrous amount of emotion held by one single place. He felt instantly relieved by the notion that Cassia too could be discontent in the orchards, even if it was just a small notion of unhappiness. He was not alone. Once again she was beside him with a similar feeling or need.

His troubles were far from settled though, despite Cassia. She questioned him after a few moments passing and he looked away as he tried to gather his answer. It was not that he was bored; he had what he needed in the sense of family. And she… she was his friend and Oak had not needed to seek beyond her. Turning back to face her, I’m not bored, you keep me busy. he added with a bit of a smirk, changing his tone from sorrow to something brighter. But, There –is- something missing though. he paused, Do you think so too?
