Helotes loved the way Vesper reacted to the alcohol; it reminded him of the first time they had drank together. Sufficed to say, that time had not been as amiable as this time was, and for that Helotes grateful. The Lykoi was suddenly reminded of how much he had changed from when he had first come to Inferni; he had so been like his father, uncaring and bold, but now he had meddled, and he was more than comfortable with that.
He took the bottle from his friend and took a swig himself, and reacted in much the same way; the drink was harsh on the throat and belly, but strong; it would not take long for the two of them to be singing merry songs. He laughed at her prior comment on the drink, Indeed, el Diablo concocted it himself! the idea of the devil sharing any kind of drink with mortals was preposterous, but it was a fun idea. Helotes looked over and smiled at Vesper, taking one more gulp of the moonshine before handing it back over.
In response to her question about the children, he was more than honest, Eating, crying, and shitting constantly. He laughed heartily, I can barely keep up… especially now that Zana has made herself scarce. He quieted then, wondering if he should have said that out loud or not. His mate had been wandering off more than usual, and at longer intervals lately it seemed. He couldn’t complain really; now that there was peace in Inferni, looking after the kids was his number one priority. Still… he felt her growing distant, and deep inside it frightened him somewhat.
