It was so hot out. Terra couldn't stand it. Her coat wasn't exactly the thickest out there, but that didn't stop her from feeling like she was going to die from the heat. Terra stretched out, panting madly against the cold stone. It wasn't enough. She needed more. Even the shade seemed to be giving off heat to her. Seeing a stream nearby Terra waddled over as quickly as she could before plunging in. The water was a great relief for her. Terra began gulping it down, moving through the stream happily as she finally began to cool off.
Her ears perked up as a familar call rang through the pack. She knew that voice. Terra mused on it for a moment before realizing it was Hotaru. Her tail wagged with delight, thinking about how wonderful it was to see her friend. Just as rapidly the fears poured in. Terra couldn't go near the borders. There was danger out there. They would kill her pups. Hotaru would take advantage of her weakness and declare herself dominant. Both of them could be killed. Hotaru was in danger!
Lifting her head Terra let out a powerful howl, as broken as her hybrid voice was. It told Hotaru to come in, and hurry. She didn't like imagining what might happen if she left Hotaru out there by herself. Especially with something out there hurting other canines. Terra wanted to kill the one who had done it, but she didn't know enough, and was too weak. All she could do was hide, and hope that the danger would never find her.
