plucking strings and broken wings

Element perked his ears as the coyote spoke her surprise that he was a speaking cat - it was typical, although he did not blame canines for being surprised that such a small creature as himself was able to speak. In fact, not too long ago, a canine had asked him why he could speak, as if he was an anomaly rather than a norm.

What did surprise him, however, was that she apologized afterwards - speaking truth about how he must get that reaction from others a lot. He raised his tail in a curled fashion, appraising the coyote with intelligent green eyes - perhaps she was different.

"I do - but do not worry, it is a typical reaction," he spoke in a low, soft voice. He stood from his position in the grass, slowly and deliberately stretching out his front legs, and then his back legs, finally arching his back so that the stretch was complete. He then sat down, his tail curled around his paws, inspecting the coyote and her horse. Now that his panic was over, he could scent her - she smelled of other coyotes, and the only other pack that he knew the name of came to mind.

"Are you from Inferni?" he asked inquisitively.
