The sky churned in its pigments of blue-grays, not quite settling on a specific hue, just shifting without rule. It appealed to her as she gazed up at it, the billows of white drifting across her oculars in a reflection. She was grateful to have found her way out of the caverns and had been hiking for some time. She was a little thirsty and out of breath but otherwise okay, she was taking this little break mostly to appreciate the openness of her new home. The city was confining, more mentally than physically. All was tame and easy, so relaxing that she feared never knowing hardness, never quite experiencing life or danger--and that terrified her. Her tail had been involuntarily wagging on her entire trip here and she wondered what she'd come across next.
With a soft sigh she rose to her paws, glanced around, picked a direction, and then set off at a brisk trot. She walked until she hit a cleared plot of land, a large human-made structure rising in the midst of it. Her ears slid forwards in a perk as she examined it from a far, slowly closing in on it, practically crawling. It gave off a muggy and stale odor, the stench of decay and disuse. Another scent marred it, one that was familiar but in the same breath very foreign. Her head snapped sharply in the direction from which is manifested, eyes narrowing on a figure she did not know. It was a wolf, like she, but strangely colored. Black on one half, white on the other. It was perplexing and unique. She ached to investigate this structure, but also wanted to identify this new being. Her digited-paws moved to grapple the shell of a pocket knife, nail pushing on one end to flip the cold, jagged metal blade outward. She sank back into the trees, walking in the shadows towards the canine. Her paws fell silently, one after the other, and she could feel her muscles tensing with anxiety, her breath hitching as she aimed to be as elusive as possible.
