Images of Kai swirled around in her mind. His handsome face always lightened up her mood, no matter how angry or sad she was. Even when she caught him stalking her, she was still happy to see him. His yellow eyes watched her from the small distance between them. ”Why are you all the way over there, Kai?” Just as he was about to answer, they both heard a twig snap. Both their heads turned to the noise… The smile on her lips stayed for a while, but faded once she came back to reality. She still laid there with her eyes closed, though not in the deep sleep was in before. The echo of the faintest of sounds had her eyes flying open. It was the same kind of sound she heard in her dream. Footsteps. A set of them. The black and white Marbas quickly sat up and scanned the trees. She couldn’t see any movement, but she could still hear the weak sounds of someone lurking in the trees. ”Who’s out there?” Now, being a Marbas, this was her job to scope out trespassers. If it were a fellow pack mate, there would be no reason to stalk in the trees. The Anathema smell would’ve been evident on both of them. The smell was faint on the other, just like everything else she could sense about them. Faint everything.
Axelle got up, and grabbed the small dagger from its sheath wrapped around her ankle. Her eyes now more alert than ever. She scanned the trees, and noticed the subtlest of movements. A loud growl emitted from her throat and the knife moved from her side to in front of her, not that she needed it. It was more for the threat than anything. ”Show yourself!” Her hackles were now standing on edge; she was ready for whoever this was that was lurking. Now that she knew where the footsteps were coming from, she kept her eyes locked the other’s form. They would not leave out of her sight, and if they would, she would chase them and eventually catch them. Then they would be in a situation.
