Back dated to July 19, because that feels like a better date for this. *shrug* Thread starts out for the first post in CdM, but they leave the pack lands into Ethereal Eclipse - feel free to make that happen in your post J. Word Count :: 400+

The land had been kissed by summer, and today was no different than each day for the last week straight. The Earth lay comfortable and complacent in the cradle of warm sunlight, life moved on like normal. It was a beautiful season to raise a family in.

Orin awoke early that morning as a tendril of sunlight seeped through the window and tapped her on the face. Her golden eyes opened slowly, squinting against the sudden light for a moment as yellow orbs flashed in the light. She lay there, a soft smile coming to her muzzle. The house was... silent. She raised her arms above her head, stretching though still laying in bed, and rolled over... and met the attentive stare of three pairs of eyes. She looked at them, surprised that the puppies were awake but hadn't made a noise, and then she giggled. “What are you lot doing up so early?” Her only response was a sudden onslaught of prodding noses and wagging tails.

The puppies lurched forward as one unit, nipping playfully at her. She yelped and giggled back, and tried to squirm away until she wriggled right off the side of the bed. That did not stop the puppies though, and one by one they hopped off of the bed and landed on their mother. Luckily it wasn't too tall of a bed or else it might have hurt, but instead the onslaught of mini wolves was little more than a cute-attack.

“Babies, what, give me a minute to wake up!” She pleaded uselessly, and everyone knew she didn't really mean for them to stop. She pawed at Vladmir with an open palm and sent the boy rolling away, then yanked the sheet off of the bed and covered all three puppies. That was her chance to make a break for it, and she hopped up and pranced out of the room while her brood figured out how to get out from under the sheet.

“Mars? Mars! Your children are awake and full of bees.” she said as she looked down the hallway, and walked toward the living room. She headed over to a window first and looked out at the bright, beautiful morning. “You know what? I think it's a good day for an outing. A picnic maybe. Perhaps we could hunt for the pups.” The sky was bright without a cloud in sight, and the sun was warm and inviting. It would be a great day for a hunt, and the forest just outside the Court would be perfect. Then their children could see what really went into finding food – the old fashioned way. Of course, they would really just be planted in one spot while Mars and Orin did all the work, but they could at least see and taste real, fresh meat just after the kill.
