Vesper hated admitting it to anyone, including herself, but she had a bit of a soft spot for kids. Although she had the maternal instincts of a rock, she was fond of the teenaged scouts in her clan in particular and tended to be protective over other young canine she met during her travels. She took some pleasure in guiding them away from the mistakes she’d made, as well as shaping their minds if she knew them well enough. It was a bit of a cliché to say that she was attracted to innocent minds, but more to the point she liked kids, and that was all that mattered to her.

All of this meant that she wore a good-natured smirk and waved her tail when she got a better look at the young wolf before her, his sapphire eyes gleaming in a midnight-black face. He answered her with a slanted grin of his own, and she snorted lightly though she took it all in stride.

The she-yote let out a soft croak to tell him to lighten up, and Stark responded sarcastically in low speech before fanning his wings.

So what are you doing downstairs? she asked without missing a beat, taking a seat and tucking her tawny tail close to a scarred hind paw. He had the very concentrated scent of pine and wolves on him, which had her thinking that he belonged to a pack, but she couldn’t quite place it. Her scarred brow furrowed slightly as her nose twitched, but she stayed silent, waiting for their banter to end before she started questioning the white-trimmed lad.
