Saul Lupus is by Alaine!

Weeks of planning and preparation had gone into this rather large project. In moments where he'd had spare time and an extra pair of hands, Saul had taken to the trees. In the interest of preserving Vinátta's forests, Saul had tried to source the wood from outside their borders and his trips had taken him deep into the forests of the National Park. Bran had been a near constant companion on these trip and their technique at cutting down trees, processing them into something usable and transporting them back to Vinátta and the proposed building site. These preparations had been built around the chaos of the last month- the serious influx of new members, his mateship to Lilin, Temeraire taking flight from home and finding his own house to live it. Mentally, July had been a trying but certainly rewarding month.

After sending out a message to those who had shown an interest in helping out today, Saul had curled up around his mate and lavished her with attention until well into the night. He still couldn't quite believe that he'd found her, and that she reciprocated his feelings. He often was struck by how lucky he felt and the shining grin across his lips refused to move. The morning had rather unfortunately dawned grey and overcast and Saul had almost called their operation off. But his run of the borders had been refreshing and he held faith that it would go well. After kissing his belle goodbye, Saul had made his way over to their construction site, his mind formulating some kind of plan.

They'd need foundations for the village hall they planned on building, but as far as Saul could tell, the ruined buildings in Amherst were founded on cold hard stone. It had taken the Stormbringer a while to try and adapt this to something they could use. They would need to dig a shallow rectangular ditch and then fill this ditch with level stone. He'd managed to collect stone from the ruins of the buildings in Amherst, although with the vast array of coloured stone the buildings provided, their village hall would be founded on a rainbow stone. He hoped the rather rudimental method would work, although the area they'd chosen to work on was gloriously flat anyway.

After his volunteers had arrived and Saul had given out shovels, picks and other tools they might need, he'd explained his plan to them. It wouldn't take them long, the amount that had gathered, to excavate this ditch and then it would take them a further couple of hours to place the stones in the right places, knocking them down into the soft ground and making sure they were at least mostly level. The rubber headed hammers he'd uncovered in a warehouse a few weeks ago would be perfect for tapping the stones down and making sure they were stable. Giving his orders was easy, and it just left him to start. Striding forward, Saul took his time marking out the long ditch, sticking four long branches in the ground at each corner of the ditch, wrapping string around the posts and pulling them taught to give them a line to dig along. With a smile and a nod, Saul grabbed a shovel and began to dig in, trying not to go too deep.
