Niernan had collapsed onto his bed in the early hours of the morning, his night time patrol had been exhausting and had taken it out of him more than usual. He had found himself jumping at shadows and chasing moonbeams, it seemed he was over tired and he reasoned that he needed a good rest to sort himself out. Yet his mind was as busy as ever, running through patrols, schedules and eventually coming to rest on the golden woman that was only a short distance away. A wry smile had spread across his lips before he had slipped into the blissful oblivion of sleep.

A mere two hours later and he was being roused from his slumber; Ciaran, his dark tabby, was pawing at his face, mewling like a kitten. Nier grumbled and swatted at the cat playfully, mumbling incoherent words. The cat sighed and landed a heavy blow on his wolf friends nose. Nier shot upright in his bed and scowled at the cat. "I was sleeping Ciaran! Have you lost your mind or did Loki set you a personal mission?" He exploded angrily, his Irish accent heavier on his words due to his temper and tiredness. The cat hissed at Niernan and gave him a withering look, "You told me to wake you. Saul asked you to help with laying the foundations. Remember?" He spat. His tail was puffed up and his eyes were wide, Nier was shocked at his best friends stance. He quieted and calmed himself; this was his and Ciarans first argument and he didn't like it, at all. He shot the cat an apologetic smile and rubbed his fingers together, calling the irate cat over to him. His large, brown hand-paw practically engulfed the cats head as he stroked Ciarans silky fur. The cat calmed and eventually purred, Nier smiled at him and apologised, "I'm sorry Ciaran, it was a long night."

With the little domestic dispute behind them the cat and wolf duo left the house, answering Sauls call for his helpers. Nier shot a glance at Graces house, wondering if the D'Angelo would turn up to help today, also wondering if her presence would distract him at all. He sighed and trudged onwards, making his way through Jordheim. The sky was grey and gloomy, after their spate of good weather it was a bit of a downer, but it would make it cooler for the heavy labour that they faced today, Niernan commented on the cooler weather and Ciarans only response was that the moist air made his whiskers frizz. That made the wolf laugh loudly, he was still laughing when he spotted Saul, pegging out the borders of the proposed building site. He called a friendly greeting, raising one hand-paw and letting his tail wag slowly, 'Lo Saul. Want a hand?"

He gladly took the shovel handed to him, feeling the worn wood on his pads, the shovel was sturdy and would withstand the work to come. He waited for a moment and watched as his Virding laid out a string border between the poles, delineating the boundaries. A yawn cracked his jaws as he moved forwards to start digging, stepping over one of the strings a safe distance away from his grey cousin before plunging the shovel into the earth. He lost himself in the manual labour, revelling in the feel of his muscles shifting subtly under his skin and fur, humming old Irish working and drinking songs to himself, keeping a steady rhythm going.
