Selene had been quiet with Fritz and he was slightly worried about his mate. Was this because of Fang/Toby? Because if he had known that it would affect her like that, he might have tried to not tell her, or at least not whom he thought had attacked Colibri. He didn’t see the female and could understand that she didn't want to be around all the people, even if they were mostly from her pack and wouldn’t dream of hurting her.
He watched as many other wolves came over to help with the construction. He recognized Nayt and Hael from when he was going to help lead the Corsairs. He gave them a nod and studied some of the other canines that he had seen around but hadn’t really met most of them. The only wolf he knew well besides his mate was Saul. He helped finish digging and was appreciative of the break that Saul called for the volunteers.
Fritz watched what they were supposed to do and went over to pile of rocks and grabbed a large armload of stones. He then started to place them in the ditch that they had just dug and packed them close together and made sure they were even. He had a feeling that he might need to get all the dirt off of him, likely taking a dip in Grand Lake. But this task shouldn’t take too long with all the others helping. He did have flashbacks to helping his father build houses and other buildings. In many ways, coming to Souls had brought him full circle.
