It's not always so dark

Sonje looked on as the snake bid to a few tongue clicks, slithering betwixt the woman's jewelry like a pet. It was a pet, she had to remind herself, though she'd never seen such an occurrence herself. She blinked, turning her saccharine eyes to some indiscriminate point around the fire as the slim Luperci settled nearby. Sonje, she said, her voice low as she drew her knees to her chest and wrapped her lanky arms around them.

She was quiet for a moment, perhaps thinking of what to say next, given that she wasn't the most adept at socialism. Sepirah, huh? You wouldn't happen to have something to eat would you? she tried, bold — but she was hungry, and there was no harm in asking. It was quite possible the sable jackal has some cracker crumbs in her fur or something of the sort. Sonje somehow didn't think Sepirah would be for up roasting ol' slick-belly there around her neck.
