She hadn't noticed the crystal tears that began to gather at her eyes.
All she could feel was pain - waves of it - completely capturing her small body. Her giant belly almost seemed unreal and unnatural, as if it were something attached to her. But the puppies inside knew as well as she did that it was time. There was no consideration to the hand that she held on to - presumably her mate's - squeezing it as tightly as she did her eyes with each passing moment. Breathing seemed difficult, especially at such a rapid pace, and yet somehow Giselle knew it needed to be done. How was this something she had never read in her books? Why was this so... painful?
In the middle of her moans of pain and sharp intakes of air, she hadn't heard someone else in the doorway. When powder blue eyes flew open, they saw a woman standing there, holding what looked like clean cloth. Giselle grit her teeth and only managed a hard, visible nod, not knowing the woman but having to put trust in her for this moment. Her prince was there with her, and her little beady-eyed knight in the corner, and felt safe. Silvano's warmth retreated from her side some, and thinking he would leave she dug her claws into the palm of his mottled hand. As she did so, she let out a cry into the stale air, wondering just how much more the pale princess could take.
