To put it simply, Lena was scared. She had heard adults shift before, and knew that the noises were nothing to fear from a young age, that it was a normal part of things. But, it was another story when the noises came from within her. But what was worse was feeling the movements within her. Maybe it was because she was slightless that she picked up on the subtle things like the additions of joints, or in some cases, the shrinkage of some. Being one that was familiar with every aspect of her body and knowing every nook and cranny of it, it was frightening to find it changing to something unfamiliar. What if it changed in a bad way, that something would be twisted and wouldn't even be able to know.
But, despite the fear that swelled within her, she kept on a wide smile, and turned her fright into excitedness. Her ears caught the sound of approaching footsteps, and both her and Cody named the voice in surprise in unison: "Zalen!" Lena slipped onto her hindquarters as her brother took a small step towards their alpha, though he kept a hand on his sister's back that was slowly changing into what will be a slim shoulder. "Yes, sir!" he replied quietly as he answered for her, "This is our first time..." He trailed off, expecting her to add something. But, she gave a simple nod of her head instead of speaking, unsure if she could talk or if she did, it would mess up something and she would lose her voice or something.
Under her, she felt a weird sensation, and shifted her hind legs from underneath her. They sprawled comfrotably in front of her, feeling much longer that her normal legs. She moved one foot that was no longer a paw, turning it and bending her toes, which made her giggle, and did the same with the other. Cody was still silent, but she continued to feel his hand resting on her, showing the support that she had given to him not even an hour ago.
