She heard the noises, and for a moment she debated on pulling her tail over her eyes and going back to sleep. Instead, the woman stood and stretched, wincing at the stiffness of her long ago injured leg. She trotted to the entrance of her den, her mismatched eyes peering into the entrance to see what the commotion was about.
Her eyes widened in delight as she realized what was going on. She was witnessing the last moments of her granddaughter's first shift. Her tail wagged as she approached, offering a gentle nuzzle to Zalen's shoulder. She spoke then, her voice strong and full of pride. "You are every bit as beautiful as your mother, Lena. And Cody, you will be strong like your father." She wondered if Myrddin was shifting yet. She padded closer, nuzzling both her granddaughter and grandson.
She thought back, to her other children and grandchildren. She had never had the chance to witness or be part of their first shifts. It was nice to be able to see Cody and Lena growing up like she was.
