Sonje by Sie!

For fun? she echoed dubiously, her lips curling as she thought of "play-hunting" as being fun. If you were going to expend your energy chasing something, then it needed to be caught, as was her personal logic. She frowned, wondering what type of fool preferred needless failure to conscious victory. Was he so pampered that he could afford to let meals go at the cost of simply tiring himself out? This concept was precious to Sonje, as being on her own had taught her that she could not waste, and if it wasn't worth doing, then it wasn't to be done. She was immediately baffled by the sunny boy, and then insulted by her given countenance of "babe".

His new-found confidence was shot down by a severe glare from the girl's pale eyes—her patience for cockiness had suddenly been worn thin. I'm actually making use of my time, she replied scathingly, curling her tongue at him like an unfriendly snake. Why do such a pointless thing? Sonje hadn't actually been doing much of anything herself, but she wasn't about to admit as such; this was how the subject had been reverted back to him. She realized a little guiltily that she'd been having more fun when she thought he was purposefully trying and failing to catch the cat, as opposed to when she'd found he was only playing with it, but he'd confounded her fun nonetheless, and she wasn't impressed. What if you'd tired yourself out and then got attacked? she asked, more sharply than she'd intended.

Sonje bit back more horrible retorts, realizing she was feeling a little too emotional about the otherwise minor subject. He had after all, only been playing. Her last retort, she especially regretted, seeing as it suggested she was a threat. Casually she turned her right thigh away, concealing a thin rope that held her dagger there. Still, she narrowed her eyes at him, curious but suspicious all the same.
