Ahaaaaa !

There was so much going on inside Itzal’s head in the few seconds Axelle hesitated to slice his throat. She wasn’t trying to hesitate, but she didn’t want to kill a man she once loved either. She fought with the thought of it – she would have to if it threatened her life. She pushed down harder on the knife – a satisfied smile slid onto her lips when she saw a little trail of blood beginning to form in the dips in his collarbone – but then when she looked up into his eyes, she saw something had changed.

He smiled at her now – something she hadn’t seen from Eztli, not like that anyway. She lessened the pressure on the knife, but still kept it there just in case this was a trick. She studied his face, now becoming unsure. His face didn’t contort in the way that it had and the smile that floated on his lips wasn’t evil. He didn’t try to cut her, and he made sure she knew that as he took out his blade, he didn’t attempt to attack her with it. She saw that his eyes were no longer empty like they had once been, and when she realized that Itzal was back, she fell apart. She took the knife from his throat, stood and backed away from him. Both wolves were bloody, but it wasn’t that that bothered her. She had almost killed him. She wiped his blood of the blade off on her rump – she didn’t bother wearing her skirt today. Blood was everywhere on her – what was a little more? Then she stuck the dagger back in its sheath strapped to her thigh.

She turned from him and picked up her crossbow from the other side of the bloody street. Blood leaked down her chest from her new wound, dripping between her breasts and down her toned stomach, and all the others purged as well. She could feel the little tickling sensation of dripping liquid down her back. She looked back at him, but didn’t say a word. She knew it was her own fault that Eztli pushed through, and from the twisted way she thought – she was happy that she finally got to meet him, but now that Itzal had control again, she felt a little weird. She didn’t know what to say to him – sorry for almost killing you...? He could say the same to her, but she wouldn’t let him.

She walked away from him, and as she did so – she could feel a sharp pain in her abdomen. She searched her mind to try to think of why that was, and even checked to see if she had any stab wounds there, but when the realization hit her, her stomach sank. Axelle kept forgetting she was pregnant – yes, to other young, expecting mothers - they would be happy about something like this and never forget. Axelle, on the other paw, had a bad experience once before involving pregnancy, and although she didn’t mind having pups with Kai, it was still not something she was that excited about. And it also something that kept from her mind, like now. She looked down at herself, but she wasn’t bleeding. The pain was terrible, and she cringed a few times – but managed to keep her composure and continue to walk away from her former love.
