His words touched her soul. She still kept looking away from him, even though he searched for her eyes. He says his leave was done for her protection – she understood. She could see him doing something like that to protect her, and she knew she wouldn’t have let him leave if he confronted her about it. She kept her gaze down at her scarred arm – the light scars shown through her missing fur like snow at night – something like that. She touched the crusted scars with one of her other fingers and remembered smashing that arm through a window to get a piece of glass. The piece of glass was then used to severe the Halifax man’s wrist. What a beautiful scene it was.

”I missed you.” It stopped all her thoughts and rang in the back of her mind. She couldn’t be mad at him anymore now that he explained himself. She couldn’t be ignorant to him anymore, and when a few seconds passed after he said those three beautiful words – she leapt into his arms. She encased him in a tight hug. Even though, Kai was in the back of her mind, this just felt right. She felt like she was home, safe (for the moment), and it just felt familiar. Comfortable. She squeezed her face into his chest, and squeezed him as hard as she could in her arms. She was shorter than him, and so her face only reached the top of his abdomen, lower chest. The two were a very big difference in height, and Axelle never really thought of herself as 'short', until of course she was standing next to Itzal. Or actually, trying to hug him.

”You have no fucking idea how much I missed you, Itzal.” She spoke into his chest since he was taller than her. She nuzzled her nose into his bloody fur, but she didn’t care. Hugging him wasn’t even close enough for her – she wanted him. Possession wouldn’t even be the word right then, though that wouldn’t satisfy her need either. And for once, it wasn’t a sexual need. It was just a companion need. This kind of feeling wasn’t something she felt with Kai, in all reality and weirdness – even though, Kai was her other half. Maybe it was the oldness that she felt with Itzal – he knew her back before Kai knew her. He saw her at her worst, right after she was beaten and raped by Kemo, and he still fell in love with her despite all her ‘baggage’.

Danger wasn’t enough to keep Axelle away from Itzal… Even if he was the source of it all. She would fight Eztli tooth and claw every day just to be able to spend time with Itzal. And she didn’t want to admit it, but fighting Eztli was good training. Hand to hand combat shit, something she wasn’t used to using. Fighting for her life made the learning experience a lot different and she caught on faster. Her strength had grown a lot since he had left and it continued to grow every day – even though, she would never be superwoman. Axelle claws scratched an uninjured part of Itzal’s back gently. She wouldn’t let go of him, not even if Eztli returned.
