  • Time crept relentlessly forward sparing not an idle moment for even the torn at heart and mind. Responsibility dictated that she forego wallowing and ignore the sound ticking of her clock and continue her daily tasks with some assimilated vigor.

Lifeless though she was, it could not be said her work was not done diligently. She had taken responsibility for the animals that morning, herding the sheep and cows to graze while tending to the stallions and single mare. A would be productive day came to an abrupt standstill when she went out to see to the oddly standoffish female. The wolf’s intentions could hardly be called hostile and yet she was met with a strange aggression from the mare. Flaring nostrils and stomping hooves included. And X’yrin was not in the mood or mental condition to deal with that attitude.

She had bared her fangs at the animal, reminding her in that subtle way just where she stood on the food chain. Of course she wouldn’t have killed her companion’s animal, but she was not above threatening it. Afterall the behavior was undeserved.

Eventually the she-wolf left the stubborn animal be and tended to the lone red roan instead. He too stood on his own in the field but was more receptive to the woman’s comb through his lengthy mane and gentle caresses to his muzzle to impress her scent upon him. Oddly enough the practice was soothing and in silently conversing with the horse, she felt her mood coming down to something more social, and dare she admit she actually felt content enough to smile.

Such a delicate expression was worn on her lips even after she left to hunt a small meal for her charge, trailing down the Expanse to the Miki following the known habits of fodder to seek out water when the temperature rose. But her concentration was not it in. Her mind was still distracted by instinctual urges as well as the conditions of her standing with both her Nomad brother and Jaden. It was shameful that she would let petty thought hinder her accomplishments, but it couldn’t be helped.

Life hardly returned to her by the time she approached the heart of the packlands mainly in the hopes of finding content again within them, but partially to see to the red roan. However what she was met with was a rather aggressive display between the known stallion Speck and the nameless other. Her brows were knitted with confusion, troubled that perhaps the beasts weren’t getting along. The silent question was abruptly answered however when the pair eventually split and the victor went to claim his…prize.

Realization crossed her golden face coupled with the hints of envy for the mare that had recently been cruel to her. If anything could be said of this, at least someone within this pack was going to bring new life into it. But another horse was not something the Issor had expected. She sighed disdainfully and brought a clawed hand to her mane to comb through her wild locks. As an after thought, she hoped the barn would help up well enough for the life sure to come…
