One love, for the Mother's pride

After her children had disappeared she had not much else to do, it was Tiva's turn to watch the Great Fire, granting Gemma time to be with her family and to relax. This Gemma did in the form of hunting rabbits. It wasn't very often she caught one, but once in a blue moon she would do and every time she tried she would be a little better, a little faster and a little more agile. Her constant practicing with her fire staff had given her a fluid grace that she had not possessed before.

This time was again a miss but she got close enough to snag a few hairs from the rabbit's fluffy tail, which she spat out in disgust. In the end she watched the brown creature dash away into the woods whilst she stood panting. She was closer to the borders that she had been on her own since her attack and a shiver fled up her spine. She was about to turn and return to the village when the wind suddenly struck up again , blowing against her from the outside. Instead she turned her face to it and breathed in breaths of the cool air, filtering out the scents of pine and other plants. Then a canine scent came to her that immediately had her fur prickling. It was mixed up like hers was, some coyote and some wolf, it picked at her memory until the image came to her of a patched and scarred coywolf with a missing ear. Vesper. Who she had shared a night with.

She continued to breathe in the air just to make sure she hadn't mistaken herself but it came flooding back now, unmistakable. Excitement filled her and her white tail began to wag. She trotted forwards a couple hundred meters closer to the borders that she was almost upon them. She yapped, a coyote noise, and then barked deeper, a more wolven noise. She padded past the border and into the Reserve. She hoped Vesper had heard her and remembered her, she remembered Vesper.
