Vesper was wondering how best to approach the situation when a yap reached her good ear and caused her to start. She scrambled onto all fours and blinked with confusion when a deeper bark followed the first call, but she could hear well enough still to recognize that the two were the same voice. The two noises spoke of dual heritage, and her tail began to sway uncertainly until she caught sight of a pale coat amongst the foliage at the edge of AniWaya territory.
For a second, the Infernian stood stock still, blue eyes roaming over the other female as she came into view. They missed nothing, certainly not the lack of an ear and the deep facial scars. Another might have paused to judge, but Ves only reasoned that she had quite a few new distinct scars of her own since the war with the Scintilla wolves. Otherwise, the snowy coywolf before her looked healthy—speaking of, if it wasn’t already obvious from her scent and the direction from whence she came, a more sheltered life.
“Hello, beautiful,” Vesper greeted, tenderness touching her eyes although it was a different kind of tenderness than the last time they’d met, less intimate but no less kind. Her tail wagging, she trotted up to Gemma and leaned forward to nuzzle her in a friendly fashion, inhaling her pack scent. “It’s nice to see you again.”
