He had only arrived two nights before to find a heavily pregnant Skye pleased to see him. There was a sense of ease about staying with the pregnant female, his mind being put to rest as he focused on the task at hand. For the time he remained in Cercatori he would be a loyal friend and partner to the creme alphess. She needed someone to stand by her and Fenris forbid Jazper did not do his duty and take responsibility for the lives growing inside of her belly. He had spent most of the last day by her side, making sure she was well rested and taken care of, much to her annoyance. By the afternoon the leader seemed to realize that the Knight would not leave her be and resided with a small smile to his fatherly antics. He had been the same before his previous litters were due and he would never dream of allowing the mother of his pups to strain herself during the last stages of pregnancy.
After the long day of taking treating Skye to a day of relaxation and food, and preparing the house for the arrivals with the warm furs he had brought, and a fresh bucket of water, they had tucked themselves in for the night, his clothes laying on the floor in the corner. With one arm wrapped around Skye protectively and in a deep sleep the whispers and barley registered with the sleepy protector, until the she began to shake him. Golden eyes popped open and her previous words locked into his mind. Sitting up quickly he perked up into full alert. “The puppies. You’re sure?” he asked dumbly before shaking his head “Of course you’re sure.” Rising from the bed he stood by her side and gave a short urgent call to his brother announcing the birth in progress before his eyes returned to the Alphess, “Are you hot, do you want a wet cloth?” A large arm wrapped around her back, helping to prop her up against the pile of furs she had been using as a pillow, his eyes full of concern and excitement as he tried to control his frantic thoughts.
