Torn Family, Broken Heart, Fractured Mind

The darkness of the night seemed fitting to his mood and how he felt with what he perceived as the breakup of his family. He had not expected what had just happened earlier that evening. His thoughts had turned inward as his family was torn apart as the events became to much for him to cope with. This was not anything that he had experienced or have even seen happen before in his short life. He was aware of the females usually seeking seclusion for giving birth but not attacking one's own family especially with such violence and intent to kill. Temo was lost.

Images fluttered behind his eyelids as the nightmares danced through the fitful sleep that he had fallen into. Dark shadows haunted him in his dreams and chased him in the dark of what seemed to be a forest. Branches seemed to reach out and tear at his face and arms. Occasionally Temo would wake up and lay unmoving until he fell asleep again just to have the shadows resume their chase and torture of his dream self.

His consciousness slowly pulled itself out of the dark abyss that it had fallen into. At first he did not know who he was until the memories flooded back and reminded him of who he was and what he seemed to have lost. Temo kept his eyes shut trying to block the outside world but it was no use. The sounds were muffled and quiet so he knew he was in a building and his nose took in the familiar scents that he knew which confused him. His eyes finally slowly opened to a blurred room and it took a minute for the room to pull into focus.

He was confused as he looked around the room he was in as a back room to his shop where he had tossed a bunch of bedding materials that he thought would make good rags. The how and when he had gotten there alluded his thoughts and he had no idea if he had been there for hours or days and at the moment he did not care. As he laid amongst what was supposed to be rags but had become his bed, the hair around his face and muzzle matted from what must have been tears and the rest of his fur messed up and covered with dust, he wondered who Jace had become and what happened to his jace.

The nights had been filled with the mares of the night as he tried to sleep. His dreams filled with the shadows that attacked him or someone that he found dear to himself. When ever he got a close looks to those shadows it was Jace's face that he saw or, on some occasions, he would see his own face on the shadow that was attacking his children. He would see the faces of his children on the bloodied and mutilated figures that would be trying to run away from him.

The passage of time did not even register in his thoughts with his mind so tortured with the dreams. It could have been three days or three weeks that he spent in the back room using the old pieces of cloth as a makeshift bed. The thrashing about he had done during the nightmares had spread the pile of rags all over the floor of the room. The dust and dirt and bits of thread and fiber clung to his fur making his unkempt look even worse.

But then he did not care any more. Temo had lost everything that was his life, that was his reason for being. When he was awake, his eyes stared at the ceiling or walls, afraid to go back to sleep in fear of the shadows that haunted him and ignoring the body's desire for food until sleep overtakes him allowing the shadows to have their way with him.
