Sonje by Sie!

Sonje was hunting—but not for food, as the hungry brat could usually be found doing. Rather, she was tracking a scent she'd never encountered before. The smell alone wound through her nostrils and into her veins, driving her blood hot and her mind into a curious frenzy. Whatever it was, she was compelled to find it, to explore and to know the scent inside and out. Jagga was stationed far behind, having been unable to keep the desperate pace Sonje wanted through the dense forest. But she didn't mind traveling on her own, and with her horse tucked safely away in a small grove, she was confident of returning to her soon. Just as soon as she investigated that scent.

It grew in intensity as she went, even though the scent and sound of a waterfall threatened to bog her senses. It was still that scent that prevailed and egged her on. She felt uneasy, if only because she couldn't remember a time she'd been so intent, and the burn in her gut stricken by the smell didn't help alleviate any of her nerves. The crashing of water had come at its loudest when she finally found her, an older wolf-woman sitting at the edge of the pool. Sonje froze at the edge of the trees, her hand making note of the dagger bound by leather to her thigh, though she didn't intend to use it, as it was just a precaution.

After a long moment of gazing around, she realized the source of the scent was the black woman herself, an edge to her eyes that Sonje couldn't quite place. It wasn't fear or hunger that plagued her—and Sonje would bet her tail it had something to do with that scent. "Please," she forced out of her mouth, gritting her teeth at the sound of her plea. "What is that scent—i-it's driving me crazy, I swear."
