Life and How to Live It
#7
When the cat began to walk away from him as he continued to scratch his back, he looked toward him to see what he was doing. The dog watched as he dragged his claws in the sand. What on earth was he doing? A few moments later, when the feline had finished scratching at the sand, the spaniel then realized what it was that he was doing. Edgar was shocked, the small animal had written him a message! After he had read it, he quickly took out his pencil and scribbled back a reply onto his notepad, which already had a collection of conversations with other luperci, that read: I didn't know cats were so intelligent. What else can you do? The yearling then placed his notepad in front of the strange black animal so that he could read it. Edgar then began to wonder if the cats he had lived with, back by the barn, were also literate. If they were, then why hadn't they talked to him? Could it be that it was only this cat that could read and write? The male wasn't sure, so he watched the cat to see if he would answer his question.
