Now that it was finished, and his masculine desire satisfied to a degree, Zalen could now regain his senses and focus on the beautiful girl in front of him. He had chosen her to try and reproduce with because she was strong, gentle and kind, attributes that any mother wolf should have. They both had recently lost their mates; they were alone and lonely, it only made sense that they would seek each other out. Zalen’s heart was broken, and it would take some time for it to heal enough to love again, like he had loved Titania. But in the place of love, Zalen felt he had formed a bond with Adonia, one that went beyond the cusp of physicality; he felt they understood each other, and that they could trust each other, and that sometimes was even a deeper bond than romantic love could provide.

Luckily, the knot receded much quicker than he had anticipated, and with a small tug he was free of her. He felt sore, but it wasn’t too bad, and he was immediately by her side, the dark silver of her fur intermingling with his ebony flank, and he was licking her all over, soft cooing whines emanating from him. What was there to say? What could he say? Words were not enough at a time like this. He was grateful to her, he cared about her; he would never let any harm come to her so help him.

The two wolves stayed in that small clearing for another hour or so, Zalen guarding and comforting her, making sure that no other rogue male come along to take as well. He was ensuring that his seed make it where it should, and that a spark of life be ignited in her womb. She would make such an excellent mother, he could already tell, and for that he would never let her suffer.
