The death of the alpha's pups had been devastating. Even worse, the alpha's mate had fled the pack. It was illogical. Pups died all the time. He himself had almost died several times in his youth, and had his siblings dying around him as he grew up in the north. Rage filled him, thinking of the tiny female. She hadn't been a strong alpha. She was unworthy of the title. At least he didn't have to think of that now that she had fled. Zalen would find a better mate. A stronger one, without the tendency to flee from life.
There were other pups though. The pack hadn't come to disaster yet. Hopefully these ones would live. So he hunted, scouring the lands until he found some ripe rabbits and brought them down. A pair hung in his mouth, one dropped off at Fayne's den before continuing on, following the scent of his other pack sister. Spotting Palaydrian Tharin's tail wagged, whining softly. He couldn't speak through the mouth full of rabbit, just hurrying as quickly as he could to her side.
Family comes first.
