[p]Changing Before his Eyes

"Language!" The alabaster wolf sneered, legs spread wide as she anticipated his next attack. Though she meant sarcasm, Lyris wasn't much for the swearing herself. Made you sound more stupid, in her eyes. "Oh, poor you. Do I get extra points for sounding like I care?"

In the split second before Helios lunged, she saw the slight way that he was positioning his paws, and where his eyes traveled the heartbeat before the charge. Lyris didn't have time to dodge it, but she could mostly avoid it. Swift on her paws, the female attempted to jerk away, but only half-succeeded in doing so. Cold teeth sunk into her flesh and pain lanced up the right side of her body as skin and fur tore away. The loner then relaxed her shoulder, knowing that this would reduce the more physical damage somewhat. Her attempt to leap away had helped a bit, though Lyris already knew that there was bad damage there. She covered up her wail with a snarl that was filled to the brim with loathing. Lyris then craned her long neck and snapped her jaws over the male's thick muzzle. Channeling all of the strength she had, Lyris chomped down, feeling the thin layer of skin rip away and the metallic tang of blood on her muzzle. Then she pulled back, rearing on her hind legs as she did so, and attempted to throw him off. The force of the gravity and the force of the bite she was creating would most likely be enough to get him to release her now blood-stained shoulder.
