Dartmouth didn't hesitate to at least attempt to appear polite as Willam spoke. He nodded, kept his eyes on her, and even smiled when necessary. Though he remained quiet, it was a step up for him – he wasn't the type to care much for chit-chat. But this coyote held his interest, and for some reason he felt it necessary to pay attention. After all, he was facing a potential fellow member of the pack.

At Willam's reassuring words, Dart felt himself relaxing just a bit. It was very comforting to know that he wasn't going to be dealing with a strict, hardhearted leader like many alphas were capable of being. He was surprised further still when another she-yote stepped into the clearing, and he made the connection that Myrika was in fact this female – the alphess. His snout twisted in puzzlement at the fact, but he quickly overcame his shock in order to fall into a deep bow, his ears lowered and his tail tucked. Though, as Willam had told him, this pack might not require total submission, Dart felt it best to at least attempt a small amount of subservience even if it only served to buy him 'brownie points.' When Myrika asked if he were a lost coyote looking for a home, he opened his dark maw to respond but then shut it again, as he assumed Willam would introduce him. While he was entirely capable of introducing himself, he didn't want to come off as pushy, and therefor thought it best to remain on the withdrawn side of things. It felt odd, of course, because it simply wasn't him. But he suspected that going from living on his own to being part of a large family would require him to make a few minor - and perhaps sometimes large - adjustments.
