Neela had never honestly wanted to hurt Tony before, but she could have happily done so now if she had been in a condition to do so. Making jokes, dismissing the death of one of the pups like it was nothing, as though she had told him she’d just lost a fish! Deep in her mind she knew that Tony’s selfish words were his own way of coping with the loss, recognised the weakness in his scoff but that didn’t lessen her anger any.

Said anger was made even worse when Tony reached down and picked up the red pup, his massive hand looking like it would crush her. She growled audibly, showing a hint of teeth until he set the pup back down at which she all but leapt upon her, bundling the small lump back against her chest and covering her with frantic licks for a few moments before turning her attention back to Tony, scowling at him. She’s a puppy now a bloody hammer, and a newborn at that. Ain’t ready to be moved at all yet, never mind slung about!” In truth Neela was probably being a bit overly dramatic but still she didn’t like Tony slinging the pup about like that. Still she made an effort to settle down, though Tony;s questions brought about another, lesser growl.

”They’re fine, I can keep them perfectly warm in here. She was born weak, her and her sister. Nothing Hadley could do.” The insinuation that she couldn’t take care of her pups was almost as bad as the thought of having an outsider – at the moment the list of “Outsiders” was great and consisted of everyone who wasn’t her and Tony – near the pups rankled at her. Thankfully he moved on soon; names were something she could talk about without getting angry at least. ”No. I wanted to wait for you.” she said in response to his question; she and Julian had named Leon together,r it only seemed right that she and Tony should share the task with their litter.
