With the huskadore’s nose flush to the ground he followed the invisible trail that was hers. The grass was finally beginning to dry. Mido caught sight of her much farther up ahead; she assumed a hunting position, her body crouched low into the brush. She was stalking something, but what was it? Quickly he moved past tree line to his left and into the cover of the wooded area. Stealthily he padded along the edge of the growth, ever careful about his footing. Out of sight out of mind, she wouldn’t know of his presence and neither would her target.
As he continued on with his silent observation a lone young deer came into view. It wasn’t a newborn and it was still far from maturity. His mate was very good at what she did. The fighter could see the story unfold as to how this creature’s life would soon end. A growl sounded from his stomach; occasionally he too forgot that he needed to eat. Remembering some tougher times in his life, he scoured the ground for a small meal, a treat really, anything that would tide him over for a bit. The dog shifted a rock with a paw, beneath it a mass of different bugs. He made a disgusted face, shook his head and moved the rock back. I’m not that desperate.
X’yrin closed much of the distance between herself and the fawn. She was in the perfect place to advance on the unsuspecting prey. Mido watched hunt with utmost attention. His muscled body slunk low along the moist forest floor so he would go unnoticed.
