There was so much sorrow in the pack. Drin's pups had been lost so suddenly. The hope of pups filling New Dawn and playing through it was dashed. There was still Fayne, but how could she be feeling after the loss of so many litters? Tharin had thought long and hard about how to assure Fayne. The problem was that the loss of such litters happened. It was simple fact. He'd lived all his life knowing about such things, and he couldn't say that everything would turn out okay.
He could however make sure that there was no reason for her to think other things would go wrong. To this extent Tharin had headed out to the river, and caught as many fish as he could. He wasn't very good at it, much better at hunting on land, but it didn't matter. With the salmon run filling up he could easily catch all the fish he could eat. Tharin made sure to catch twice as many, unsure of whether or not Fayne would need more. Grabbing as many as he could carry he trotted over to Fayne's den and dropped them. Returning to the river he grabbed more out of his pile, and returned. The trip was repeated several times, leaving the largest fish for last to make it easier.
Family comes first.
