The dog days are over

The feel as the sword clashed against the shield was different than what she was used to. Her grip was good enough that she didn't let go, but it sent a different vibration through her body than the simple ring that came from a clash of blades. Her ears lifted slightly in consideration, wondering what she was supposed to do against the shield. The grey eyes of the hybrid before her studied Adelle, the young dog grinning brightly at the measurement. She wasn't afraid that she'd fall short. She knew what she was doing, better than plenty of others did.

Adelle. No, I haven't. She admitted her inexperience with ease. This was just a spar after all, and she had to learn how to deal with a shield. She couldn't do that if no one knew that she needed to learn. Adelle's eyes widened as the shield came forwards, acting as a club. Adelle caught it with her sword, but then there was nothing to stop his sword from cutting past. Her heart rate picked up, puzzling over how she was going to get out of the situation. Adelle forced herself back, stumbling slightly as she got out of range. Calculating Adelle leaped forwards, driving with her own sword to twist past his shield and cut along his arm.
