Before he knew what was happening, Axelle's body had tensed up even more and as he tried to comfort her and calm her, suddenly she turned on him, baring her fangs at him. He immediatly released her from his embrace and took a few steps away from her, his whole body tingling at the snarl. Usually, that would have been the green flag for him to attack, and if it had been anyone else but her, Kai would have done. He froze for a second or two as he watched her, seeing her rage and frustration, and slowly, his own eyes darkened. The black male barely even heard the slave-girl's explanation as to who this Tyko was, unable to take his feral eyes from his mate. Everything in his body was tensed, responding to the threatening snarl she had given him, his muscles twitching as if they were desperate to let loose on her. But he wouldn't. He couldn't.

So Axelle didn't want him near her... Kai watched her as she tended to the slave, his blood heating within his veins, his own fury building within him. She had done nothing but lecture him since he had arrived with the girl, chastising him like a disobedient pup. He was meant to be her mate, and he had arrived home on the back of a horse, carrying an injury of his own, and yet she had barely even noticed his wound. Instead, she was more worried about some slave girl than him. And now, when all he had tried to do was to calm her, to soothe her anger, she dismissed his offer for help completely, acted as if she couldn't stand the sight of him, couldn't stand for him to be anywhere near. Axelle was the most important person in Kai's world, but he was still as stubborn and proud as they came. Holding onto his own rage, feeling the venom of his thoughts, Kai remained silent, but never once did his eyes leave Axelle, his stare confident and potent. It was clear that whatever was going on behind his eyes, in that wicked mind of his, wasn't too pleasant.

After a long moment, Kai turned and made his way over to the same shelf as Axelle had gone to, looking for anything to help him tend to his own wounds from Tyko's dagger, seeing as how his mate hadn't shown any concern. Reaching up, he found a small bottle of alcohol, with only the smallest amount left inside, but it would do. Turning to face his mate once more, his eyes finding her form, watching her with darkness in his gaze, Kai tipped the bottle he held upside down against his shoulder, letting the stinging liquid trail over his wound there, snorting at the burn. Kai watched as Axelle helped the slave girl from the table and offered her the bed before moving to the table, seeing her definate effort to keep her attention away from him, ignoring him the best she could. Axelle would feel his heated gaze upon her for a long moment before he made his move.

His form stalked towards her with a predatory slowness and just as he reached her, his hands slammed down onto the table top on either side of her in a clear 'I'm not touching you' way, a deep growl rumbling from his chest, baring his fangs at her in the same way she had done to him, making very sure that no part of him came into direct contact with her. When he spoke, his voice was low and controlled, feeling the sting of his wounds. "You will wake her when it is time to go? Is this a trip that I am invited on or do you plan on leaving me behind?" There was something darker about him now, something that felt unpredictable - a calmness that barely covered a slow-burning fury within him. Malakai looked as if he could lash out at anything or anyone right now, including her den, including the sleeping slave girl and including Axelle herself.
